This publication documents the reconstruction of significant cultural landmarks damaged during the war in prominent towns of Hadramut Governorate in Yemen (2015-7). Hadramut boasts some of the most sophisticated earth architecture in mud brick and stone.
 
The research and compilation for this book was made possible with a grant from the University Research Board (URB) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and published with the research fund of the Binladin Chair for Architecture in the Islamic World.
 
Salma Samar Damluji, was appointed Professor, Binladin Chair for Architecture in the Islamic World at the School of Architecture and Design, MSFEA, AUB in 2013. She co-founded Daw'an Architecture Foundation dedicated to earth architecture and reconstruction in Hadramut, Yemen in 2008 and was consultant and chief architect.
